I am working on an analysis of the relative merits of thick client v's thin client technology.
I keep going round in circles on this and am struggling to settle on a direction. I need to finish this for tomorrow morning so it looks like being a late night.

Wounded Knee
I injured my knee last night. Here is the sorry tale and yes you could say that I am partially to blame but I was put in an impossible position and feel that I had little choice.
My wife ordered some furniture a few weeks ago and it was to be delivered on the 14th (yesterday). This was fine as I was expecting to be working from home that day. However, I had to change my plans and had to go to London.
On Monday I telephoned the company TWICE to inform them that there would be nobody home on the 14th and to request a redelivery on the 21st which they agreed to.
I got back from London yesterday afternoon and was dismayed to find a non-delivery card behind my door from their courier. I didn't read it as I was much too busy and had to unpack etc and get on with some work.
When my wife came home she noticed that the card had a note written on the bottom stating the furniture was left with my next door neighbour. I was pretty pissed off as they hadn't acted upon my instructions and, even worse, has stupidly left a heavy cabinet in another house.
Their website states:
They also say that they will send a 2 man delivery team.
I don't really know this neighbour as they only moved in recently but I didn't think they would be too happy at having a large and heavy item of furniture in their hall. We live in adjoining bungalows BTW but it is a bit of a walk to get to his front door up our respective garden paths and up the road.
I spoke to the neighbour and he was really nice about it but obviously wanted the furniture out of his house so I had no option but to move it. He very kindly gave me a hand and we managed to lift it between the two of us.
We got it out of his hall, down his path, down the road to my house and up the path to my house. Just as we got to my front door my left knee gave way completely and I ended up on the ground. Since then I have been in agony, I can't bend the leg, can't lie down and haven't been able to sleep due to the pain.
I am now writing this and waiting for my wife to come and take me to hospital to get it looked at.
Yes I have some responsibility for what happened to me but the company are in the wrong on several levels. They did not I feel they had put me in a situation where I had no choice but to move it from my neighbour's house.
Sorry if this is a bit rambling but I am still angry. I have phoned the company and informed that that I hold them responsible and am waiting for one of their managers to call back.
Meanwhile I am missing work today and probably won't be able to work tomorrow. I am in the middle of a busy project and will have problems if I can't complete my part on time.
The irony is that I was supposed to be on a visit to the Microsoft Campus in Reading today but returned home early to spend Valentine's with my wife and she ended up having to nurse me and listen to my moans and groans.

Their website states:
- You will be called two days before delivery to confirm your delivery date and be allocated a 4 hour time slot
- On the day of delivery, the delivery crew will phone to confirm they are delivering and what time they expect to be arriving
- All furniture will be delivered to the room of your choice. Assembled furniture will be unpacked and positioned where required. All packing materials will be removed.
- You will be invited to inspect the goods thoroughly before accepting delivery.
They also say that they will send a 2 man delivery team.

Insomnia in London
I have been in London working for the past couple of days. My visit has been characterised by the search for a non-disco coffee shop and I finally found a little AMT coffee bar in Euston Station which wasn't blasting out music. The sounds of the station were far more enjoyable.
I spent the day discussing Vista migration and emerging telecomms technologies. It was an interesting day but I feel we didn't really get beyond scratching the surface.
It is now 5:40 AM and I haven't slept a wink yet. I am leaving early to fly home via Heathrow so I guess I have given up hope of getting any sleep tonight.
